Johanna Sozio, MA, LCMHC
Welcome, my name is Johanna Sozio and it is a privilege to be able to work with you. Therapy is a complex process that requires a level of confidence and trust. Whether this is your first time entering treatment or you have been in therapy before, my goal is to create a safe, and therapeutic environment to work on agreed upon treatment goals.
In 2011, I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling from Oral Roberts University, and shortly after began working full time at an outpatient substance use program in NY. During my 5 years at this facility, the goal was to educate my clients on recognizing their triggers, connect them to a healthy support system, and develop coping tools in order to break destructive cycles and ultimately achieve change. I continue to use this model in therapy because it is incredibly effective and allows for client empowerment.
In 2017, I relocated to North Carolina with my family and continue to enjoy exploring The Triangle. I hold a current license as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) and have had the privilege to work with diverse clientele in private practice.
As a faith based counselor, I incorporate spirituality into my sessions depending on the comfort level and only at the agreement of the client. If a client chooses to not discuss faith in treatment, their requests are respected and spirituality will not be discussed further. I take pride in developing and cultivating a safe environment for all belief systems and do not discriminate based on cultural, religious, political, or gender views.
I have experience working with clients from varying backgrounds ranging from but not limited to: depressive/mood and anxiety disorders, substance use issues, poor self-view/esteem, and various traumas.
I look forward to bravely working on your treatment goals and being part of your journey!
