Galana T. Chookolingo, Ph.D.

 

Dr. Chookolingo is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Health Services Provider in the state of North Carolina. She specializes in anxiety, depression, stress management, sexual and interpersonal trauma, as well as complex trauma. She primarily works individually with adults of all ages. Dr. Chookolingo also offers psychological testing at Etheridge Psychology, including ADHD testing, autism testing, learning disability testing, and diagnostic clarification testing.

 

Dr. Chookolingo completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Temple University then a Master of Arts degree in Professional Counseling at LaSalle University in Philadelphia, PA. She worked as a therapist and also managed a large outpatient community mental health for several years before pursuing a doctorate degree. She completed a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Denver in 2016. During her doctoral program, she completed various practica and internship experiences in university counseling centers, the Veteran’s Administration, and psychological testing in a private practice. She has extensive experience providing individual and group therapy in community mental health settings as well as university counseling centers. Additionally, she is extremely invested in providing supervision and training to newer clinicians in the field.

 

Dr. Chookolingo practices therapy from an evidence-based, integrative, and culturally-sensitive approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Interpersonal Therapy. She believes in the unique strengths of each individual and encourages them to find those strengths within themselves to make positive and lasting changes in their lives. Dr. Chookolingo is an ally to the LGBTQ+ community.

 

Dr. Chookolingo met her partner in their Master’s program together in 2004 and are married with two children. In her spare time, Dr. Chookolingo enjoys reading, watching movies, spending time with loved ones, and traveling.
